Financial support for SEE University students
The Financial Aid Office manages all financial support packages for students studying at SEE University. We are offering you the following financial aid packages:

 Financial aid and Scholarships
1. General Provisions

SEEU is pleased to be able to offer various forms of financial assistance for students, mostly in the form of designated scholarships funded by donor agencies.  A variety of support schemes offered at any given time, each determined by donor funding priorities.  The various schemes are announced in advance of an application deadline, usually in accordance with the admissions procedure at SEEU.  Please note that students are required to indicate clearly the support scheme for which they are applying, usually in the form of an application form covered by a note on eligibility criteria for the particular scheme.

The means of distribution of aid is done primarily through the SEEU Scholarship Committee.  The standing committee is sometimes supplemented through the participation of a representative of the donor providing support for the particular scheme when that scheme is being considered.  The Scholarship Committee is responsible for the accurate and fair distribution of all money that is received and distributed by SEEU.  While every effort is made by the Committee to disburse all monies in accordance with donor priorities and in a fair and equitable manner, it is the responsibility of the students to ensure that the Office of Financial Aid has all documents necessary to process the applications.  The decision of the Scholarship Committee, approved by the SEEU Administration, is final.

SEEU makes no promise of financial aid to any student or individual.

SEEU reserves the right to modify, amend or withdraw any amount of scholarship, tuition waiver, grant, or discount from students who fail to meet the conditions of the particular award.

Scholarships

Scholarships represent one form of financial support for students studying at SEEU.  Donors, corporations, individuals and other sponsors provide grants to SEEU that are specifically designated to be distributed to students in the form of tuition and/or living subsidies.  Donors are free to offer designated scholarships according to award criteria determined by the donors.  SEEU generally accepts these generous offers, but will decline offers for scholarship support that might compromise the mission of SEEU.  Some of the scholarships are awarded entirely on the basis of merit while others are awarded after considering financial need first, and still others are awarded based on profile preferences, such as those based on gender.  The award criteria for each scholarship scheme are available to the public, and are indicated on the respective application form.

Assessing Financial Need

SEEU believes that all good students, regardless of their financial backgrounds, should be able to consider study at SEEU.  That is, students should consider applying to SEEU whether they are able to cover all of the costs on their own, or not.  In support of this operating principle, some donors offer scholarships to good students who would otherwise be unable to pursue studies at SEEU because of financial need.  Financial need is that portion of the cost of education that the student or his/her family is unable to pay.  As some of the scholarships on offer are awarded on the basis of a student’s financial need, the need must be determined.  Determining a student’s need requires detailed and accurate information about the student’s and family’s income, assets and liabilities, and other pertinent facts, such as the number of children in a particular family.  The Scholarship Committee will assess need based on the information included in the financial aid application form, and also the supporting documentation the applicant is required to provide.  Following an analysis of this information, the Scholarship Committee will determine the amount of the award.

Terms of Awards

Scholarships are awarded usually for a period of one year, and paid out in 2 equal disbursements.  Students are eligible to apply for renewal of the scholarships, pending no change in status that would render the student ineligible for the award in question.  Renewal criteria vary from scholarship scheme to scholarship scheme, but a general rule is that students must remain in good academic standing to be eligible for further support.  Detailed renewal criteria are available for each scholarship programme on offer at SEEU.

Eligibility for Scholarship Support

To be eligible for a particular programme, a student must submit a completed application before the application deadline, meet the profile and/or criteria specified by the donors and/or SEEU regarding the programme, achieve the minimum GPA as required for each individual form of financial assistance, be in good academic standing, and be a full-time student.  Students with provisional status, on academic or non-academic probation, or those who have falsified official documents are disqualified from receiving any form of financial support.  Students who falsify documents run the risk of expulsion from SEEU.  Any change of status in a student that would allow the student to meet eligibility requirements will at the same time make the student eligible to apply for scholarship support.

Documents Required for Scholarship Support

All students applying for scholarship support must submit a completed application form by the application deadline.  Other scholarship-specific information may be required depending on the programme, but that information is included in the respective scholarship application form.

Application for Financial Aid

Applications for all scholarship opportunities are available at the Office of Financial Aid.  Scholarship applications are submitted free of charge, and there is no charge for applying for scholarship support.
